CASUS Projects

CLIPP(Computer-assisted Learning in Pediatrics Program): The CLIPP's 31 interactive virtual patient cases are implemented with CASUS. They cover all of the core content of the curriculum of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics. The CLIPP cases have been widely accepted, with use in more than 80 medical schools in the U.S. and Canada, and more than 100,000 case sessions completed by students.
The Instruct AG provides the technical infrastructure and support of this project.

Cliso: Even after finishing their studies, physicians often do not master diagnosis and therapy techniques the way they should. The project "CliSO" develops, evaluates, and implements a "Blended Learning" approach in which clinical skills are learned in an integrated way together with the clinical relevant basics and typical situations in which to apply these skills.
The project partners at the Medical Faculties' of the Universities of Kiel and Munich, Germany, produce blended learning approaches for important clinical skills, e.g., cardiovascular examination. Each approach consists of case based modules and a skills lab. For the e-learning parts, two complemenatary approaches are combined: case based learning (platform CASUS) and systematic learning (platform Nickels).

Networm: is a project of the Unit for Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology & NetTeaching for the further development and the worldwide dissemination of web-based multimedia-learning cases for Occupational Medicine.
The aim of the implementation of this cases was to en
hance the interest in Occupational Medicine in medical students. Beyond the teaching of theoretical basics they support the clinical aspects of this specific field and the multidisciplinary use of acquired knowledge.
The cases are created with CASUS and Instruct provides the technical infrastructure and support of this project.

Medilingua: The main target groups of medilingua.de are doctors working abroad and students wishing to spend time during their studies working in an English-speaking country. The aim of medilingua.de is to provide non-native medical staff with the English they need on the job. One of the provided learning tools are CASUS learning cases, to teach authentic communication situations.

Fallwerk: This is a project in cooperation with the faculty of law at the LMU Munich. Law students create their own cases in a seminary context under close supervision.
The project is running with great success since 2002 and includes right now the faculties of law at the University in Wuerzburg and Muenster, as well as several departements within the LMU faculty.
The Instruct AG provides the technical infrastructure and support of this project.

 Multiermedia:
Since October 2004 cases for the project "CASUS for veterinaries", which is supported by the Virtual University of Bavaria, are created.

vhb (Virtual University Bavaria): The Virtual University of Bavaria supports and coordinates the integration and development of multimedia learning material of bavarian Universities. CASUS offers currently three courses (Medicine, Pediatrics, Occupational Medicine), for next year five additional courses are planned.

Teaching cases for occupational choice is a project of the Unit for Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology & NetTeachingin cooperation with  the Institute of Pedagogics at the LMU München and the Instruct AG. A pilot case was evaluated at multiple schools and further cases are currently developed.
